WHAT IS A NUTRITIONAL THERAPIST?
A Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (or FNTP for short), is a nutritional therapist certified by the Nutritional Therapy Association, Inc. to evaluate nutritional needs and make recommendations for dietary changes, helping clients balance body chemistry and achieve optimal wellness. FNTPs are not trained to diagnose or treat pathological conditions, illnesses, injuries, or diseases. Why I chose to be an FNTP >
As a health enthusiast, I spend much of my free time studying and sharing information about nutrition. I’ve had a strong and instinctual interest in food and its impact on the body and the mind and have struggled with food allergies and dietary restrictions since childhood. Nutrition has played a tremendous role in balancing my own physical and mental health needs over the years, and I hope to become a catalyst for others to heal with nutrition too.
How it works
The primary focus of Nutritional Therapy is to give the body the nutrients it needs by optimizing nutrition and digestion. When one eats and more importantly, absorbs the right things, health naturally follows. The body is blessed with innate wisdom; if given the proper building blocks, it will naturally rebalance itself.
Disease is not inevitable. Health is.

I utilize a set of unique tools provide the information needed to create a customized nutritional program for my clients. The most important of them all is YOU and your UNIQUENESS. You are the holder and container of the answers within you. Together we can communicate with your innate intelligence to better understand what your body is trying to say.
UNIQUE EVALUATIVE TOOLS
1. Confidential Health Intake
The Confidential Health Intake form is a powerful tool to begin our work together. This is where you take the time to provide a platform of what we are working with.
2. Initial Interview
The Initial Interview is where we partner together to access important information that helps us see the big picture and all of the many moving pieces. It helps to gather the information that I need to understand my clients unique health needs. It also helps you to connect deeper and deeper with yourself as you become aware of patterns and connections to your diet and lifestyle habits and the symptoms that you have experienced as a result.
3. Food Journal
A Food Journal is the best tool used to gather information on your dietary habits. This tool is not only useful for detecting food sensitivities and culprits, it later becomes a valuable reflection tool that exhibits trends and patterns associated with the seasons, weather, stress levels, and many other factors.
4. The Nutritional Assessment Questionnaire (NAQ)
The Nutritional Assessment Questionnaire, or NAQ for short, is a detailed questionnaire that uses over 300 signs and symptoms criteria to identify potential nutritional deficiencies, imbalances in the body, and which organs or body systems need the most attention from a nutritional perspective. The NAQ is a in depth tool to pull the pieces of the puzzle together and match signs and symptoms with the systems that are
5. Functional Evaluation (FE)
The Functional Evaluation is a way to communicate directly with your bodies innate intelligence through a series of palpations on specific points across the body. This evaluation:
Identifies and quantifies weaknesses and imbalances throughout the body.
Enables individualized nutrition and supplement recommendations and lifestyle protocols necessary to restore vibrant health.
Allows long-term documentation of changes in the body's systems, demonstrating effectiveness and increases client commitment to protocols.
6. Lingual-Neuro Testing (LNT)
Lingual-Neuro Testing (LNT) is a valuable biofeedback tool that enables the health care provider to determine the usefulness of a nutritional supplement before it is dispensed to the patient. LNT accesses the body's innate ability to discriminate between what it needs, and what it does not need, in order to correct a specific problem--a weak organ or a nutritional deficiency, for example. This simple and effective technique makes the difference between a generic nutritional therapy plan and a personalized one.
More than just sensing taste, the nerves in the tongue act somewhat like a barcode scanner, telling the brain what specific nutrients are found in a given food or supplement, then communicating this information with the entire body via the Central Nervous System and Vagus nerve.
The functional evaluation along with lingual-neuro testing
asks the body what it needs with three important questions:
Is there a deficiency?
If so, what is it?
When is that nutrient back to sufficiency?
