A little about me...
As an Asian American and an immigrant, I take a decolonizing approach to the healing and therapeutic process. This means that I am critical of how both our interactions with our outside world (our lived histories, relationships, social contracts) and our inner worlds (our self image, systems of meaning, ways of knowing) have been affected by systemic oppression. I encourage radical rest, slowing down self scrutiny and urgency, and holding gentle spaces for you to speak the most helpful truths.
I also deeply believe that healing and wellness happen through relationships and connection. I try to approach my work through an attachment lens and am interested in queer and trans relationships, couples therapy, and collective healing. In my learning I am particularly trying to center how patriarchy and masculinity intersect with the healing process for people of color, as these have been harms and systems that have affected me and my loved ones profoundly. This could look like attachment-based therapies, relational cultural frameworks, or any frame of knowledge that prioritizes your connection “web” as a key towards wellness.
Finally, I am rooted in an understanding of trauma-based somatic, embodied, and creative healing. How our mental and energetic states interact with our bodies and expressed through our bodies are precious to my work. As someone who spends many days of the year outdoors reflecting and finding joy, I deeply cherish cultivating relationships with nature, the land, and creative expression with people in my work. This could look like somatic work, creative art or music or dance practices, mindfulness based practices, faith or spirituality based practices, or therapeutic work in the outdoors.
