Aselefech Evans, She/Her, Holistic Health Intern

I identify as Black and Ethiopian-American and understand the complexities of being Black in America while honoring my Ethiopian roots. I am currently a graduate student in the School of Social Work at the University of Washington studying Integrative Health-Mental Health Advanced Practices which examines environmental, mind-body-spirit-cultural integrative practices. As an immigrant through international adoption, my desire to pursue Social Work is deeply rooted in my activism as a family preservationist and as a transracial adoptee. I hope that my understanding of loss due to estrangement from family will lead me to work that promotes genuine healing, for all of those who are grieving the loss of family. When I am not working and studying, I enjoy running, reading, and spending time with my family and 13-year old daughter.
